What makes you get off your butts and go out there? Looking for positive and encouraging posts. For me, I'm a part-timer who just came back from a week long trip along the Washington and Oregon Coast. Spent last night at Dosewallips State Park along the Hood River, and woke up to expected rain this morning. I opened the blinds and found a herd of 40 Roosevelt Elk grazing in the campground not 50 yards away! The dog had to wait a bit for his morning walk, as we enjoyed watching these magnificent creatures peacefully working their way along between the campers. Re: I am embarasseda pressure washer will do a great job of tearing up the decals on the sides of the camper........ I learned this the hard way.Re: Some free advice for the folks who sell RV's for a living...How 'bout cleaning the used RV's on the sales lot? When we last shopped for a used RV I was appalled at the condition of many of the used motorhomes at several different dealers - trash, dirty cabinets, etc. It wasn't just footprints from prospective buyers and lookie-loos - it was filthy campers. We couldn't understand how the dealers expected us to buy dirty rigs. In some cases we simply left the lot after seeing the condition of a few units - wasn't worth the time to keep looking there.Re: I'll be glad when school is back in session.I had a similar situation recently while stopping for groceries on a trip. Two teenage boys were joyriding in the motorized shopping carts in the store, running into customers and store displays. Store employees refused to approach them, saying "We've called the manager". I chose to approach them and, in a command voice, directed them to stop, get off the carts and leave the store immediately. One of them told me "you don't work here", but then reconsidered when he realized he had a large, hairy pissed-off man to deal with, who wasn't backing off or concerned about being polite. They got off the carts and ran.Jasper and Banff to Glacier NPPlanning a trip in early-mid July to Jasper and Banff, then on to Glacier. Departing from and returning to Whidbey Island in Washington state. We're planning to go up to Kamloops, then up highway 5 and enter Jasper NP from the NW side, transiting south down Hiway 1 to Lake Louise and Banff, then continue south into the US to West Glacier area for a few days, then bomb back home on hiway 90. Never been up this way before, though I have been to Glacier NP (US) in the fall just fore the Sun road closed for the season. We're traveling in a 24' Class C. Any tips or suggestions for places to stay? Can I expect all these roads to be open in early/mid July? I understand the Sun road in Glacier may still be closed, but what about the roads through Jasper and Banff NPs? Thanks for any suggestions.Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosWe have a small 24' motorhome and our nice but bulky recliner camp chairs from CW pose a storage problem for us. They don't fit in the outside storage compartments, and we don't really want to hang them on the ladder in the back to get all wet and dirty (I know, I know - there are bags or storage boxes we could get, but....) We realized that the upper over-cab bunk was mostly wasted space for us since SWMBO has a bum knee and isn't going to climb the ladder herself. So, I took out the front half of the mattress and put a plywood shelf across the bunk resting on the dividers on each side. A second strip of plywood in the middle placed vertically adds a bit more support, and now we have two spaces that fit our chairs perfectly! I put the second half of the mattress back on top of the plywood, so I can just pull that out and take a nap when I want to be out of the way, but still be able to climb in and out of the driver's eat directly to the living area without difficulty. (If someone can tell me how to attach a photo to this post, I'll be glad to add some pics)
