It was originally built in the 60s as a farm house, and was taken to the studs inside and out in 2005, so everything inside looks and feels brand new. We are on 5 acres but share all but 2 acres with the owner of the 15 acres between us and the road, so it feels much larger. His horse comes up to our fence, and we have a lot of deer that hang out in that area too. We are completely isolated and absolutely love it here. RV has been doing fantastic. Since we have been busy moving and living in it, we have only put about 3,000 miles on it so far. But not a single problem has popped up, even after living in it for almost 3 months. It's not as easy to get around in as the 33SW, and certainly not as peppy even though it has the 400hp 1150ft/lb Cat C9. The 33SW would run circles around this one, but it weighed half as much. Just had the first service done, really not too bad at $450, considering I had them service the generator and driveshaft while they were at it, since I don't have my tools and a space to do the work on my own right now. Transmission will be next year and is more expensive since the big Allison takes a very expensive fluid, but lasts 3-4 years. It was pretty crazy watching them put 34 quarts of oil into an engine! 34 quarts into an engine??? 6.7L Powerstroke takes 13 quarts. I just did my oil change and that is all it took.Re: Thor Super C (Chateau/Four Winds) improvements and modsWife and I just purchased a 2014 33SW. Plan is to drive out to Maine at the end of the month. This past weekend was a shakedown test, 3 nights at a local State Park. We've used it 1 night here and there since we purchased it a couple months ago. This trip was also trial run using my Ram 1500 as a Toad. Pulling went fine. We sprung a couple leaks while camping... fresh water leak, drain line for the hot water started leaking at the 90deg fitting under the floor.. had to cut an access hole from the bottom to put a Sharkbite fitting on it. Looked like a bad install of the crimp fitting in that it was not fully on the PEX tubing. We also had a drip from the bathroom sink... once I uncovered the fitting in that pipe (looked like very little glue used on the joint) I put more ABS glue on it and no more leaks. I was a bit surprised that these leaks showed up now after this many years, previous owners put 30k on it. I added a selection of Sharkbite fittings and ABS cleaner and glue to my tool kit.Re: dinghy or trailerThanks for all the feedback. I should have specified but we are leaning toward a diesel powered Super C. I assume one of these would handle my Ram 1500? I guess I will have to look more at the specs. The Mercedes is much smaller but cannot be flat towed, from what I've seen.dinghy or trailerWe are still in the process of deciding on a RV (trailer, motorhome or neither). That being said, I am working out the details in my mind. We are really leaning toward a Class C motorhome though. I'm thinking about how to bring a vehicle along on our long trips. I have a Ram 1500 and she drives a Mercedes GLK250. My Ram can be flat towed but it does not look like the Mercedes can be. I would rather bring her smaller vehicle with but I am open. I looked at a tow bar setup and was a bit shocked by the price. I could likely buy a trailer for close to the same price and have more versatility. How easy is it to park a trailer when camping? is there usually room somewhere to park it? The dinghy would be easiest in that I would not have to worry about a trailer. Thoughts on dinghy vs a trailer?
