On the question of charging both the coach and the starting battery's. Many coaches will not do that. I just made a jumper out of #10 wire and ran it between the starting and coach battery's. Worked just fine.
You said it was raining pretty good. With that information I am going to say you may have sucked in a bunch of water which momentarily made the engine go rich and the white smoke was steam as the water went through the engine.
Not to underestimate your talents but I did this and ran all new wires but did not have to install a 7 pin as my coach, 1994 Pace Arrow, already had one. Took me 45 Min start to finish. Any way now you got it done Good Job!!!
I drive at 62 on the freeway. I always pull over when more than 4 cars accumulate behind me on a 2 lane rd. I am never in a hurry so I really don't care how long it takes to get there!!
