It is usually the intake manifold Oddly enough, when they changed my spark plugs earlier this year, the thermostat gasket was leaking coolant onto one of the plugs. They fixed it of course, but it was a burnt gooey mess on that plug!Re: Solved: Vibration while accelerating issueUpdate: the vibration came back harder than ever and tripped the check engine light on a recent trip. If I gave it any serious throttle, like up hills, it would shake and shudder. It ran 'ok' with very light throttle. Turns out it was an iginition coil (COP). When we got home, I ordered a set of 10 online (~$100) and installed them myself, took around 2.5 hours, not too bad of a job for DIY, fairly straightfoward (and Youtube helps!). I HIGHLY recommend replacing your coils if you have these symptoms, or if your rig is getting up in miles. It's just a matter of time before a coil fails and you'll be stressing all the way home (or to a repair shop). I also changed out the fuel filter just in case. It was pretty easy, too, with the quick release tool (~$8), filter was ~$10. Took 15 minutes.Onan Emerald Plus Fuel Filter R&R Procedure?Hello - Need help, can't find anything anywhere online on this. I am trying to replce my fuel filter (149-2333) on my Onan Emerald Plus 4000 generator. It screws into the upper housing (beneath the carb) and also into the metal fuel line below the filter (thread screws on both ends, male and female). It seems obvious enough, but when trying to loosen it (lefty loosey), it is SUPER STUCK, and feels like I'm going to break it if I torque any harder. Anybody have any tips on how to get this thing unstuck? I've tried torquing it both directions, it won't budge and I'm gonna break something if I go any harder, lol! TIA!Re: Painting roof What to use? TeryT wrote: SuperD wrote: I used Heng's my last time around, seemed a lot easier than Liquid Roof and was definitely much less cost. Just prepped good, then rolled it on like painting a floor. I did 3 coats of it with 2 gallons on my 28' coach. Seems to be cooler inside, bonus! One small crack has formed, but will use dicor or eternabond to fix. I love eternabond, too! Used it for perimeter seams, holding strong many years later. How long ago did you apply the Heng's? I applied the Hengs earlier this year. Liquid roof about 5 years ago.Re: Painting roof What to use?I used Heng's my last time around, seemed a lot easier than Liquid Roof and was definitely much less cost. I took it to an auto parts to get the free scan, but they wouldn't even scan it because there was no check engine light. I really didn't know if it was a big problem and wasn't too excited to go down the rabbit hole of fixing this and that until something worked. Plugs and coils seem to be a pretty common fix for the v-10.Re: Painting roof What to use?Teryt I think the Hengs I used was acrylic. I prepped with Tide granual detergent and scrubbed it, rinsed it really good. Hengs is like thick paint vs. The Liquid Rubber which was much messier to apply.Solved: Vibration while accelerating issue1999 Ford e450 v-10, 63k miles. On a recent trip I noticed a vibration in the engine area and steering wheel when accelerating under load (like uphill) at highway speed. With no load there was no vibration (flat or downhill areas). New tires, alignment ok, no other issues except I found it was about 3 quarts low on trans fluid. Oops! I heard it could be a misfire, but had no check engine light, so wasn't sure. After much research and deliberation I decided to start 'small' and go with a basic tune up, just changing the spark plugs to see if it was an ignition or misfire issue. Sure enough, that solved the problem. Apparently, the thermostat gasket was leaking onto the number 6 and 7 plugs and making problems. All the plugs were pretty bad, too, must've been originals. New plugs made a big difference in performance, too! Cost around $500 for everything, happy to invest that money into fixing the problem. Just passing this along because there were lots of other posts with similar issues. BTW - thankfully there were no issues changing the plugs, broken plugs, etc. Safe travels!Re: Painting roof What to use?I know this is an old topic, but just adding my experience and .02. I coated my RV roof around 3 years ago with liquid rubber epdm. Did all the prep but maybe should have done the coating thicker. I also used eterna bond on all seams and perimeter. 3 years later it began to flake in some areas, disappointing. So, I looked for an alternative and used Hengs to redo it. Hengs was much more affordable and easier to apply, much like painting a floor. Did 3 coats with 2 cans on a 28'RV. So far it looks great, and if I have to redo it again with Hengs in 3 years then so be it. Eterna bond shows no wear at all. Hengs was easiest and more affordable, a win-win. Do a good job on the prep work!Re: Painting roof What to use?Barney, looks great! Did you remove the AC, or just brush around and underneath it as much as possible? Also did you use all 5 gallons? How long is your roof?
