We're meeting up with extended family south of Albuquerque later this week and I'm trying to decide whether to take I-40 the whole way or to drop down to Phoenix and then come back up further east in AZ or western NM. Are the conditions decent in the higher areas like Williams and Flagstaff?

I-40 through Flagstaff is at 7,000 ft. Snow is hit or miss through there in the winter. It snows a lot in Flagstaff but the sun is also very powerful melting the snow. This site says Flagstaff gets over 100 inches of snow in the winter.
