What do you do after you have had a perfect day? Well I am still waiting for that perfect day, but what about Suzie, Peaches, Hobo, Mama and Izzie? Theirs are what you can call perfect days. Lets see if I can recount their day yesterday. Suzie started the day jumping in bed and telling Sue and I it was time to get up. Then she demanded to be let outside. Mama, Hobo, Peaches and Suzie all met at the back door and bolted out to the Pecan tree with their daily routine of chasing squirrels. Then Mama and Hobo make their runs in the back yard and return to the back door waiting to be let in to eat breakfast. Meanwhile Suzie and Peaches are still running around still trying to find any rodent left on the ground. Izzie, well Izzie is still sleeping.
After breakfast Mama goes to her bed in the family room while Peaches finds her spot on the family room love seat, Hobo is sacked out on the floor next to the TV. Suzie is looking out the dinning room window perched on the love seat in there watching for any passing dogs, cats, people or anything she can bark at. Izzie, well Izzie is still sleeping.
Suddenly there is crying, whining and barking and running as Suzie sees something in the front yard, it's a dog she is screaming, It's a dog! She runs back and forth from the living room to the dinning room looking out the windows in each respective room crying out the alarm. Mama is unimpressed, Hobo is somewhat interested, but all she does is lift her head, but Peaches comes to join in with Suzie with the two of them now running back and forth screamimg, it's a dog!
Finally things settle down and Peaches resumes her nap in the family room while Suzie continues her vigil keeping an eye on her post. Finally, what she has been waiting for comes along, its the neighbor with her dogs on a leash. Now there is sincere crying and whining and pitiful barking that would almost bring tears to anyone's eyes. Suzie runs back and forth from window to window, from room to room trying to tell those who would listen there is life out there, there is someone walking their animals out there, then she comes into the family room jumping up on sue and I begging to go for a walk.
Mama takes the cue from Suzie and now she begins to get into action by going to the laundry room where the leashes are kept and starts barking, let's go! She is soon joined by Peaches and Hobo with all frantic to leave and where is Izzie? Izzie is still asleep.
After their walk about town, sniffing grass and poles and bushes and leaving their calling cards in as many places as they can they return home all tired out from the heat and return to their respective jobs of watching over the humans in their own special way. Relaxed inside their air/conditioned castle waiting for their turn to go outside and wait by the brick fence that joins the sidewalk to scare the living heck out of some unsuspecting soul that walks by with their snarls and barks. I will never forget Suzie scaring some poor young lady so bad, she threw her bags of groceries in the air and took off running. I had to go out and apologize to her, help pick up the groceries and scold Suzie. Meanwhile, where is Izzie, you guessed it, sound asleep.
