11W in Tennessee?

Looking for opinions...how easy is it to tow from Kingsport, TN on 11W over to 25E down to I81?

I try to avoid interstates as much as possible, and this would eliminate a good chunk of I81 driving, plus it would be something different.

Thanks!

We took 23S/11W/S-25E/321 to get to Gatlinburg....very easy, beautiful, and unstressful tow. Thanks for the input, everyone!

11W is 4 lane from Kingsport down to Morristown, good road but heavy traffic in Kingsport/Church Hill area. Lot of red lights, stop and go. Shouldn't have any problems on the routes you have listed.

Stay on 25E to Newport, at 25W go left for 1/2 mile or so to 321/32 and turn right and stay on 321 all the way into G'burg. Its a good route with no issues to speak of but watch for the right turn in Cosby to stay on 321. 2 good little restaurants there too, one a BBQ place that's very good and the other does sub sandwiches and Italian stuff also very good. Bush's beans is on 411 and is worth the stop too. Good restaurant and nice little museum on the Bush Bean history.

25 goes to a 2 lane road when you cross I81, not to bad, I did it my first time towing a camper. If go to Newport I would suggest going by the Bushes bean plant and avoiding the interstate all together. You will bypass most of Sevierville and a lot of traffic

Thanks for the replies. We will be towing our 30' travel trailer from Huntington, WV to Gatlinburg, TN. We have taken the 23 South/I81/I40 route before and it was an easy, relaxing drive (esp. 23 section). Taking 11 would just eliminate some time on I81.

Also, do you suggest sticking to the I81/I40 route or is it ok to just stay on 25 down to Newport and then go I40/321? I've never been on that stretch of 25 either.

Thanks again!

I live in Kingsport and have done this route several times going to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Just watch out for red light and speed cameras.

They are two lane back roads and go through small towns - might be a problem pulling a big rig...

I have been down both roads pulling my OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer but we are always looking for two lane back roads and small towns hehe... Some of these nice old folks have never seen an OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer before. Usually get swarmed by the local deer hunters wanting me to raise the roof and let them look inside.

I was going through Greenville MS late at night and local police followed me into a gas up place. I'm thinking "Oh No what did I do now"... He wanted to look at OFF-ROAD POPUP up close as well haha... Another deer hunter I guess...

I guess I should add some bullet hit decals on it haha...

11W should be good road, 25E I am certain is good road, I-81 dumps into I-40. Where exactly are you going?
