Anza Borrego State Park Dry Camping?

My Wife is thinking about meeting up with an artist group in the park in March and we are not at all familiar with the area. We would be in a 30' Travel Trailer set up for dry camping.

Any suggestions? Reserve America shows that the campgrounds are full on the weekends and we would like to stay midweek to midweek.
We can haul and transfer water if needed.

Most of the time but not always or depends on who you talk to but in our circles dry camping is in a public campground in specific sites with no hookups. Boondocking is dispersed camping on national forest lands, BLM lands and sometimes on state park lands such as the huge Borrego State Park in this post - no specific sites - you just drive gravel roads, pick your site and park it but there are regulations on where you can park.

WalMart, etc. is neither. It's overnighting on store lots. 🙂

ABDSP is a HUGE park. There are many places to camp, both developed and remote. However, you will be limited by the size of your TT.

The official park magazine, available free online, has maps, campground descriptions, hike descriptions, and contact numbers for further info. Take special note of the restrictions on dogs, ground fires, and wheeled vehicles.

Some primitive camping areas long popular on blogs and such, have had recent ownership and camping policy changes. Examples: Clark Dry Lake, Rockhouse, and Culp Valley. Call the Visitor Center for current policy and conditions.

There are many, many acres of boondocking spots. You don't need reservations. Some close to town. Just follow the crowd. 🙂
