I have been asked to help setup a trip to the Grand Canyon (Trailer Village in Grand Canyon) and then on to Phoenix. We will be going in September.

How is AZ-64 out of Williams? Is it a good road, is there much of a climb?

US-180S out of the Grand Canyon to either Williams or Flagstaff. Which would be the best way to go? Is this road a good one?

This is our first trip to the Canyon in our motorhome. Our last trip was in a covered wagon, so was not too worried about the roads.

Thanks for any information.

AZ64 to I-40 to Flagstaff is 10 miles further than AZ64 to 180 but a faster route. AZ64 is very straight and fairly level. I-40 in interstate. Highway 180 is much more scenic as it passes through forest areas. AZ-64 is high grasslands and doesn't reach forests until Williams. Neither route has any steep or long grades.

Both are good 2 lane secondary roads with no major grades. 180 is the more scenic of the two, going through pine and aspen forest, with 180 being the shorter route to Flagstaff.
