Bad 101 detour oregon

North of Tillamook OR there are signs that simply state detour nothing else. Approximately 14 miles on North the road is CLOSED and you are then informed that you need to turn around and go back to the detour. The turnaround area was just big enough for our 28 foot class C with a toad to turn around.

The detour "North or Tillamook" was for a collapsed culvert on highway 101 near the town of Wheeler. ODOT is scheduled to complete repairs this evening and the highway will be open again.

We encountered a similar detour on old route 66 between Kingman & Seilgman Arizona approximately 5:30pm on June 28th.
After driving more than 55 miles on route 66 from Seilgman towards Kingman at Valentine Arizona they had the road closed do to a small fire over the ridge and had all the traffic return to Seligman (55 miles) and find an alternate route.
It would have been nice if they had the road closed to thru traffic at seligman. Even after driving the 55 miles back to Seligman there was no signs or anyone telling you the road was closed 55 miles ahead. Not a happy camper.
