Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

I'll be traveling to Ocean City, MD from FL next month and want to take the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel from the south end. Has anyone had issues with crossing this long bridge/tunnel with their RV or trailer? I checked the site and it seems like as long as we're under 12' and have no more than 2 propane tanks, we should be good to go.

Just checking in because if I can't utilize this bridge/tunnel then I have to go up and around the bay and that would easily add 100 miles to the trip.

We've been back and forth a few times. No problems....a little nerve wracking the first time when a semi came through the other way, but now we feel comfortable. They will remind you about turning off your propane, but usually don't stop you to check. We use EZ Pass.

Be sure to have CASH for the tool booths. You will have to shut valves on propane tanks. There is a pulloff to do that, and a rest area on the north side where you can stop to turn them back on.

No real issues just beware of wind restrictions. They do not occur often but they can prohibit RV traffic if winds are too strong.

Hi--we use it every year on our trip to FL. IT IS GREAT! One of the highlights of our trip south each year. They will ask you if your propane is shut off before you enter. There is a scenic overlook about halfway across and there is also a gift shop and restaurant. Be mindful of the position of the sun as driving across with the sun in your eyes while it dances on the water can be aggrevating. Try it--you'll like it!
