This is no joke. Temperatures in the 120's are dangerous. I would be sorely tempted to not travel until the heat wave subsides. My toad air conditioner fought hard to reduce temperature from 122F to 111F. Exterior metal so hot it burned to touch it. intolerable screaming pain to roll down window because of blast-furnace temps. Like aiming a hair dryer at your arm at 18" distance. When I reached Laughlin, NV the temperature was 104F at five minutes past midnight.

There is a lot more to this great country than Nuevo Leon, and sticking within a couple hundred miles of the border.

Living solely in one area, allows experiencing a SINGLE type of society. A SINGLE select regional diet. A SINGLE type of music. A SINGLE culture.

Norteño, is great. So is Jarocho, Tapatio, Oaxaqueña, Chilango, and fifty others. They are all distinct and unique.

To see and experience them means travel. Travel means encountering different climates - some of them can be unfriendly. I tried my best to help with tips and what I received in return was (some) personal criticism. It is all public to be evaluated at face value.

Wotta hoot. Only the Huichol Indigenous are able to purchase Peyote legally. Just like the five dollar a pop (stoned hippiegringos) mushrooms in Oaxaca, selling drugs illegally makes the seller part of the problem, not the solution. I had 3 friends - a family murdered last year in La Paz when sicarios decided to fire automatic weapons THROUGH a corner house at the SSP. I live in "country México". But I travel deeper into the country. All over. Because I encounter summer temperatures that are dangerous, summer thunderstorm hail (granizo) 4" deep (Patzcuaro) Hurricanes (too many) and a foot of snow in Creel, and La Rumarosa, that removes me from Mexico?

You're funny. I've said a million times I live in a rural area. Most of my neighbors have small farms, animals, or sell chile piquin, lechones and when it's in season, peyote. They live in cabins and cook with leña. I´m not a city slicker, don´t live in an ex-pat community and don´t have any gringo friends in Mexico. I live pretty much like you but on planet Earth.

It helps to actually get out of gringolandia and tour (gasp) México. It's not all sidewalks, Burger Kings, Sams Clubs, and Spanglish Diner's Club air-conditioned...

Like the isthmus of Tehuantepéc, where it is not unusual to find 100F+ temperatures in February. Or Toluca, elevation 9,000 ft and freezing temps during a summer thunderstorm down-draft.

Quicksilver has a custom 5-row radiator. No worries. The Dodge Spirit has a ONE ROW radiator AND THERE ARE NO AFTERMARKET OR OEM UPGRADES. None. Zero.

I was assssssssuming perhaps maybe an auxiliary transmission cooler would help but since the car essentially has no cargo if this is a futile hope.

When I get the upholstery done, I am going to glue extra thick model Space blanket to roof, doors, under the rug, seats, the firewall, and behind the rear seat.

Get the cooling system serviced.
I have run my truck full throttle in 115 heat towing up a 10 percent grade chugging along in low gear and the A/C blasting. Needle barely moved and not even close to hot. I would do it again if plans and conditions intersect again.

Fortunately or unfortunately, you get what you pay for. I go to IMSS and with my recent chest problem (a year ago) I went to IMSS and also went to a private cardiologist and mammographer specializing in male breast cancer. The total cost for a complete work up with my cardiologist and the specialist came to a total of $285 U.S. in the best hospitals in Monterrey. Should I have needed surgery and both agreed on the issue I would have had it done at no charge at IMSS. In fact, my private cardiologist works at IMSS also so he would have been my surgeon. I may have had to wait but that's what universal care is all about. Ask any Canadian.

I thought the question was one of "not needing" to go to the states. If so, fine, but at the moment I am sitting a block away from a nivel segunda IMSS. When I drove past the "Urgencias" was jammed packed with people spilling out onto the ambulance portal, down the steps and onto the sidewalk.

So, for Americanos with Medicare, and enough sense to seek stabilization for life threatening conditions before heading for the USA, the issue is not one of comparing tit for tat.

BTW Hospital de Las Americas in DF quoted 220,000 pesos for a neurosurgeon, a room, and 8-days of basic care. Rx's extra as were MRI and x-rays. Total cost over 300,000 pesos

Seguro Social Michoacan had put me on rotation with an expected second to third tier referral in early 2019. Morelia would have then referred me to Puebla not México.
