Dental Implants in Algodones?

My DW needs dental work that we cannot afford in the good ol' U.S. We are hoping to RV down to Yuma and walk across the border to Algodones to get the implants done. Have heard both good and bad. Looking for people who have gone thru the experience and the names of the dentists that are good. All help appreciated.

HMMMM

You say "we cannot afford in the good ol' U.S." but I see you have a TV and RV that are not cheap. I think you can afford it but you would rather make it sound like the US is the problem causing you to not afford the implants. You say "Have heard both good and bad" so how much bad have you heard about factual stories of people in the US having problems with implants?

I have worked building Dental Clinics for over 30 years and I see what they go thru to keep things sterile so you don't get an infection.

Your money do what you want. When it comes to my wives health or mine I will trust people here.

We go through this every time this subject arises. The dentists are, for the most part, trained in the US. The safety and sanitary conditions are equal to the US. The dentists don't have to cater to the insurance industry as they do here so they don't charge me $4000 because your insurance company only allows them to charge you $500. They do not have massive malpractice insurance bills to pay, which may be taken as a negative because you probably won't get very far trying to sue them. Their buildings don't cost as much and their equipment, although often new and state of the art, is less expensive. Their office staff makes peanuts compared to here. Drugs, supplies, etc. are much less expensive. They have an enormous US and Canadian clientele so they work on a smaller profit margin and make sure they keep their customers satisfied because they know we talk to each other. I certainly am not trying to make anyone use them who is not comfortable with the idea, but I do wish to share my positive experience with those who ask.

Thank you... we all spend our money how we see fit. Im getting a Pro Union, buy American push in this thread, in how I should spend my dollars. My last new car purchase was made in a shop that voted against unionization just this year, and I, for one, am glad.

Then someone whined to have it moved from the General section to the Mexico Section... there is no referencing to RVing anywhere but in the USA in this thread, in Yuma or near Winterhaven, CA, to walk across the border for the day. No one is overnighting in Mexico.

Why, when people WALK across the border to Mexico for a day visit for dental services, and eyecare, staying in Winterhaven, CA, and Yuma, AZ???? Thats RVíng in the USA.

They are RVing on the US side of the border.... Winterhaven, Pilots Knob, KofA on us 95, etc between Yuma and Quartzsite... On the US side.

There is the air conditioned casino in Yuma. A couple of them actually. Personally, I would take the motor home and not mess with the long drive back and forth. My coach stays cool, I have television and my Kindle, who needs to do anything else?

Thanks for the instant feedback... Los Angeles is not too far.

What kind of timeframe are we talking for two molars, upper left 1st and 2nd, needing root canals, temporary crowns, and then final fitting of crowns after a mold is made of my bite to match the bite top and bottom, then a final fitting of the crowns?

Is this two trips or a 3 day visit. It's about a 5.5 hour drive to and from home, vs getting a room and having a super duper 50 mpg 2014 VW Passat TDI that gets 50 mpg opens up lots of options, of should I stay or should I go home... not much to do in Yuma in June, with the sweltering heat, if it's going to take 3 or 4 days, with all the specialties involved. No pain, no root infections that I am aware of.

Many thousands have gone to Mexico for dental work. They wouldn't still be in business if they do shoddy work.

I wouldn't hesitate to have a non invasive procedure done there. Cleanings, fillings, crowns, partials, my vote would be yes, safe.

And, a significant number of them have discovered that they can get dental care and eye care for more-affordable prices across the border.
And, some of us are always looking for a better deal. But, if we had plenty of money we probably would go ahead and pay the higher prices on the USA side.
I make no apologies.

Nor should you.
You are doing your research and determining how to spend YOUR money.

It's interesting when I started researching getting some dental work done in Mex. I thought I had found something new. Living here in Az. I was talking to my neighbor about it and he advised his entire family has been doing it for years. Been getting his annual check ups and any work done for years.

If you want to save about $2800.00, why not just get her a partial in Mexico?

In So.CA - check with USC.
Quality (expensive to attend) dental school.

IIRC there's another at Loma Linda.

For more Algodones info - go to Escapees - enter "Dentists" and/or "Algodones" in search box.
Several lengthy threads on MX dentists there.

IMO - for Implants, find a US dentist who will work out a time payment plan.
