health insurance for trip to Canada

Medicare only covers you if you travel from the states to Alaska. My Medicare supplement insurer doesn't cover any travel in Canada. In my case I'm traveling for 2 weeks in Canada and returning to the states. Has anyone gotten temporary health insurance coverage that they can recommend?

Check out Seven Corners. They offer supplemental travel insurance. have gotten their plans before like when we spent over a month in Newfoundland. Not a lot of money. Haven't needed to try them out, so can't speak from that angle. ST

Try to find coverage that includes ambulance fees. In the north, an ambulance is often an aircraft. If you're near a community with an airport, it could be a plane but if you're along the highway it might be a helicopter.

If you need to be evacuated to another hospital with a higher level of care (from Whitehorse) it is also usually by aircraft.

Check if you have a credit card that offers limited time insurance. When we are in the US, my gold Visa card covers us for 15 days; it covers almost 4 weeks if I were younger. :E

I'm sure some US premium credit cards offer similar coverage in Canada.
