HWY 9 in Arkansas from outside Hot Springs to Clinton.

Is this a decent road to pull a 25' Travel Trailer on?

We have towed our 34' fifth-wheel on both these roads (7 and 9) several times and many other state roads in Arkansas. Our experience has been pleasant, but we know they are going to be curvy and hilly, nothing like freeways. I think that is what makes the difference. If you are in a hurry (as I am sometimes) these roads are not the best, but if you want to enjoy them as part of the journey they are great roads. Specifically, I have found the surface to be in good condition for the most part. Maybe I have just been lucky.

Just to add, we appreciate the state parks where we have stayed in Arkansas: Petit Jean, Wilhelmina, Wooly Hollow, Jacksonport, Russellville, DeGray--these are the ones that come to mind. Also the Maumelle COE Park near Little Rock. Thanks, neighbors.

I don't have any trouble pulling our 36' footer on Hwy 7 from I-30 to I-40 to Harrison, but because the road is heavily promoted, it has better shoulders and is kept in good shape.

Hwy 9 is an older road with less shoulders. Actually fewer hills and curves in my opinion, except for one stretch. But neither is for those not comfortable with winding two lane roads.

(I was pulling at 22 ft long boat trailer over those roads 50 years ago, so my familarity affects my views on pulling a longer trailer today.)

It's "OK" but hilly and windy with narrow shoulders. We usually take 70 back to I-30 north to I-430 around Little Rock, then I-40 then US65.

Thanks for the reply think we will take your advice and go the Little Rock route instead.
