What is the best route from Rapid City SD to Hill City SD, We would like to go to the Naked Winery in Hill City. We will be traveling in our motorhome, and if anyone knows if we will have enough room to park at the winery. Thanks for all the info you can give us.

It's within a quarter mile of the intersection of 385 and 16 on the Hill City side of the intersection. Stone Faces Winery is within a half mile of it toward Hill city. There is a neat Museum in that area with old CCC things good place to walk a dog. It's in the area where they have the watch for mountain sheep. I think Naked winery is along the same stretch.

There are lots of good winery's and breweries there although they cannot touch our Montana IPAs. Prarie Berry is in there and has a big parking lot. Get a cheese plate and sit on the porch. Just about a mile down from it is another place with a big parking lot and I can't remember the name but the wines have a motorcycle theme on wine naming. Then Naked winery. They are all decent wines a few odd ones. We do love Naked's Ramblin Red in the plastic bottle for "roughing it." I believe all three of those wineries and a couple of breweries are right in that stretch of road. Camp close and have fun...

Prarie Berry has some oddballs but fun to taste, three rednecks my fav. Their premiums are distinctly better. Naked's Vixen pretty good for fun. None of these are fantastic but are fun to drink wines and a great little wine tour. We bought land about five miles out of Custer for retirement. It is still relatively inexpensive but be sure there is proven water on any land you might consider in the area. We usually hit the Custer Naked Winery.

We either stay at the Big Pine Campground (nice wooded decent sites) when camping or the Super 8 (they take dogs) when just driving http://www.bigpinecampground.com/

Naked Winery has a tasting room/store front on Mt Rushmore Rd (Main Street) in Custer. To the stoplight at the bottom of the hill, half a block to the right, south side of the street. Should be able to park on side streets within a few blocks

Thanks for the info, I hope to just stop buy and purchase some wine and then hit the road again. We will not be towing our toad this trip.

From downtown Rapid City take hwy 16 south for about 25 miles to its intersection with hwy 385, turn left and the Naked Winery is about 1 mile on your left. The winery is about 3 miles outside of Hill City. There is no oversize parking lot at the winery (unless its empty and they let you park out front along the hiway entrance). But between the winery & the lumber mill there is a large dirt parking area, about a block away. Not sure who owns that property, it may be overflow parking for the lumber mill.
As with most tourist towns, parking within Hill City itself is limited. Best to park the rig in your campground and use the towed for local touring.
