Ferguson is a tiny enclave that no one on earth had ever heard about or cared about until the recent trouble. There is well over 1 million people living and thriving in the St. Louis Metro area. Almost all of them go about their daily lives without rioting. Like any city or town, there are areas you don't want to go into if you don't have to. So unless urban decay and a visit to an area of racial unrest is on your bucket list, there is no reason your visit to St. Louis would need to include Ferguson. You travel dollars will be better spent on visiting the Arch, taking in a Cardinal's game and drinking a few Bud Lites.
