Jackson to Biloxi or Mobile

In trying to avoid I-10 through Louisiana it looks like I-20 is a good alternative. Then I need to get from Jackson, MS, down to Mobile, AL, towing a 39' 5er. What do you think of 49 through Hattiesburg? Then continue on 49 to Biloxi or take 98 to Alabama?

The problem in Louisiana on I-10 is caused by alligator hunters like Troy Landrey hauling boatloads of gators to the buyer, particularly on single axle trailers.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it..........

Thanks for the advice. Norm, thanks for the detail. Coming from southern Arizona it looks like my choices are I-10 or I-20, and I heard that I-10 is to be avoided in Louisiana.

If you like driving across plowed ground I 20 is ideal in LA and MS. Otherwise take a different route. I haul trailers and I don't like I 20 at all. 49 t0 98 is shortest and what's the hurry.

take that route............it's 4 lane except when you come

Just did that route about a month ago. Very good roads (except the dipsy doos leading into Jackson. After that, as long as your GPS doesn't send you through the middle of Hattiesburg, or downtown Mobile, it is an easy drive. Four lane all the way, except a few miles just before Mobile.

By sure to follow the route above to avoid the city centers.

I suggest 49 all the way to Gulfport. Pick up I10 there.
