Cross Country: There are some weigh scales on 15 in Sonora. They were closed for about 10 years but lately the inspectors have been stationed just before the scales and they insect the truck and sometimes send them into the scale. But scales on every major road would just be a money maker for the inspectors. The only limit to how much weight a truck can carry is how high you can pile the goods. But I have seen real scales on our trips to the south.
The highway that for many, many years detoured into Mazatlan, is now open. I drove by there Sunday. The Pemex gas station right after that ran out of guess, so I had to backtrack and took the same old road that used to be the single lane bypass road, to find another gas station. You just stay on the highway and drive straight south. You don't exit, unless you want to drive into Mazatlan, which is a nightmare. The lines at toll road were horrific too! I had never seen so much traffic in some five decades of driving down there.
Speaking about roads, esp. 15 toll road, why does Mexico not have weigh scales or is it not severely overloaded transports that keep that hwy in a constant state of disrepair?

Just went through there on Saturday. Barriers still up! I am looking forward to using it as it is a drag to go through the old way. Maybe it will be open on the return through Mazatlan in March ? Anyway......It will probably just add another $200-$400 pesos to the toll cost in Mexico! I just wish I could get my money's worth for smoother pavement!
When it does open the On Ramp is clearly marked on Hwy 15 ! The other new Road curves East and then goes South to match up with the Toll Roads to Tepic and Durango , South East of Villa Union.
Just think....No More Squeegee Guys climbing onto the Hood!
The next Improvement needs to address the Hwy 200 route around PV!
