I'm presently at Whitewater Draw (Sandhill Cranes) in AZ and not too far from Naco AZ/MX and was thinking of crossing for some local food.
Is there anything there worth the mileage and time? Internet search results are not very promising.

Noted and thank you.
Interestingly, both have their own Facebook page.

Ensenada could well be a major Mecca of good dining in the peninsula. But I am disappointed in San Lucas, and Mulege. Plates flooded with tsunamis of melted cheese. My hometown is even worse -- Lazaro Cardenas. Chow Hall quality.

If there is one single word on the sign in English I avoid it. Roberto's Surf & Turf.

Look for Mexican customers eating food and not just sipping coffee. Lots of expensive restaurants have coffee only-customers.They can't stand the food.

I wander one block but no further off the main drag in my quest.

But a recommendation by a taxi driver is worth considering. NACO is not a tourist trap so you won't be buzzed to an overpriced gringo mecca.

And I would not take a newer pickup truck. Especially one loaded with bling.

All good recommendations but I decided not to go - I'll get plenty of Mexico next month when we take a caravan into Baja.
Naco is too small to drive anyway - we're walkers and could do the whole town in an hour.

If you google map the town and zoom in/around, there are a number of restaurants on the main drag to choose from. No idea how good they are, but they're local.
