I would like to travel to Mazatlan next winter..Here's my question.. I have a truck and camper and tow a tracker..I would like to bring both vehicles .. I'm single and vehicles are in my name ..Can I get TIP permits for both ..It would mean 2 (TIP 's)in my name for the 180 days ..I understand a camper is considered as cargo and not a RV..also truck is 1 ton Dodge..
Is there a way to get TIP's for both ? and be legal?
I would appreciate any advice ..Thanks

The truck is not a dually and in the past my husband and I got permits for our 5th wheel and same truck with no issues.. Since he has passed away ..I now travel with a slide in camper towing a chev tracker which is much easier..
I'm in my seventies and sure would like to go to the mainland again.. If not I guess I'll have to rethink next winter's plan.Hence the reason to be certain before crossing.
I do appreciate all the input and find this forum a wealth of information.

Try to get your province to change the registration on your truck and camper to an RV. Then you can get a 10 year RV sticker for the truck and a 180 day Chevy sticker.

Also, you will avoid the truck GVW issues.

You cannot get 2- 6 month tip. One must be a 10 year. You may have problems with the truck
If it is a dually you mzy be turned away
Even some 3/4 tons can have problems. You cannot get a 20 year on the truck. If your wife is with you rach of you couuld get a 6 month tip
But the truck is iffy.

Can someone clarify playaboy's last statement? I would hate to cross into Mexico and be denied the two permits

I think that is only true when one of the TIP's is an RV-10 year permit.

Welcome to our paradise!

We almost bought and moved to Mazatlan in 1998, but decided to wait. We have found our paradise in Zihuatanejo.

May you be as lucky!
