We had a nice show in Yukon for News Year's Eve. It starting early in the morning, then returned with the evening darkness. It was warm too, only -2C so I didn't need gloves or a hat!

If I could go and see the aurora, I would put up with the cold temps without a second thought -- endless warm weather is very dull, at least to this southern Californian. I have heard that some of the resorts in the Yukon have polar outfits for rent so that you can stay outside for a while without danger.

Thanks to all of you for posting those photos!

Ive heard that many people from japan come over to see these lights, believing its good luck or something..

As much as I'd like to see them I kinda like my 70+ degree weather better, even if I do have to cut the grass every few weeks through the 'winter'.

Keep posting Sue. Will think of you while we run around in T shirts & shorts in February.

Sue, I don't know if TC and Dave had a chance to stop by your place with their dogs last month, but TC just posted some photos on her blog of the aurora taken at their new house in Willow. You can view them here.

So far, it looks like it is shaping up to be a beautiful winter in the Great White North!
