Google Maps showing a possible route from I-40 to Knoxville, TN., then I-75 to Mt.Vornon, KY, and picking up US 150, and onward for about a 5 hour trip.
Is there a better route? What would be a halfway point with good campgrounds?

Thanking you for your continued great suggestions!

We always preferred using the Louisville-Lexington interstate routeon our biyearly trip to Knob Creek. You never go into those cities, just around and as long as you dont hit it at commuter time, it is fine. Then drop south from Louisville. It seems to me to be the quickest route.
