We prefer The Reef, where we have been since December 10, primarily because it is far less crowded than Playa Bonita. It is about 3-4 miles from downtown, though. Excellent 50 amp power. The park Wi-Fi was good until about two weeks ago. Currently, download speeds are OK, but upload is so slow that it often times out when sending email. There were only 31 rigs here over the MLK weekend, and that was a surge! Since New Year's, there have been only about 20-25 spaces occupied most nights.

There are 3 parks. Playa del Oro used to be OK but that neighborhood has deteriorated & I wouldn't recommend it. The Reef is on Sandy Beach with big spaces and is a little ways out of town. Playa Bonita is my choice and is by far the most popular. Popularity comes with tighter spaces and lots of people on the beach. You can get a wash & wax for $1.50 a foot.

Thanks Moisheh. X2 on the corosion. Depends on how long we stay as to how close we get to the beach. Plus don't like to be the windbreak for the rest of the park ๐Ÿ™‚

We have stayed at the reef and being right on the water is sure nice. It is out of town but only 10 minutes away. Decent water pressure and electricity (50 amps). The WiFi has been good but there were only about 20 units. I understand that it degrades when there are lots of users. There is a downside to being oceanfront. The ocean breeze causes corrosion!

I'm going to head down Monday. Been all over Mexico but never PP. Might become a regular thing only 3 or 4 hours away.

I have stayed at Playa de Oro and Playa Bonito. Both are the closest parks to "stuff". Playa Bonito has the best beach of the two. We have been staying at Bonita for the past few years just because we like the people there better.

Mexicoruss will probably weigh in here as he lives in PP.

The Reef has larger sites but is further out of town and I think the wind blows there a lot more than in the other two parks.

We will be in the Bonito park on the 10th of Feb for two months

Thanks for info. Looking for a recommendations from people that have stated there. Not from a book or web site. Searched forum but no real luck. I don't have much faith in Web sites and campground books for parks in Mexico. They are iffy enough in the US.

There are six parks listed at Good Sam but none are recommended.
