This is the first time that I have been able to find out what the basic waypoints are now that I know....

I think it is stupid.

We have been a lot of those places, and they are usually close to things that are much more worth the time and effort.

Meh. The Colorado leg is essentially the I-25 corridor. Not really much of Colorado unless one likes traffic. Pikes Peak as the only Colorado landmark? That's like trying to pick your favourite child (or grandchild) out of a dozen.

Change #22 Delaware to Lewes - allows you to see the Ocean and take the Ferry to Cape May in NJ.

I've seen similar maps that will get you to 48 states in the shortest amount of time.
This would be a good way to see the sites and landmarks if that is your goal and your time is limited.
To me, a road trip is a journey, not a destination. I like to get sidetracked.

I'd change #5 to Buena Vista to Maroon Bells Via Rt 82 Independence Pass for Colorado.
