We left San Felipe Saturday morning early. The military checkpoint was no problem ( never is,they look, ask questions etc.) We wanted the toll road to San Luis. I don't know what their plans are, but they have dug a ditch in the median for about a mile so you can't make a U turn. Once through San Luis there is a short detour for an overpass, then smooth sailing all the way to Sonoyta ( construction is all done ). We gassed up at the Pemex, then cancelled our fmm's before the border. A five minute wait at the border & we're good to go!!

Adios till next fall when we come back to our 2nd home south of San Felipe.

About how long is the drive. I intend to do it in reverse next month. What about using the road from puerto penasco along the gulf. My problem is i am coming up 15. I have to camp at santa ana, turn back my vehicle permit at caborca then get across to san felipe. I am not confident that can be done in one day, and I know of no RV parks, except in PP. I know i can get from santa Ana to PP in a day, I did it last year. I suppose i could go from PP to sonoyta and across to San Felipe in a day. can I?

From Santa Ana it would be a long hard day. Easier to stay a night, day or two in Puerto Penasco as the new toll road starts on the North edge of town. The toll road starts just a few miles from the PP RV parks. Texan posted a trip report on here when he drove the new toll road. Can do a search of his post back about 3 years ago. Bottom line is he reported it was an easy drive.

We left our place south of San Felipe a little after 6 am & were to the border in Sonoyta about 1 pm. So, from PP it would be an easy day also. I haven't been there, but know there is a toll road up to San Luis.
