We are going to Utah and are traveling highway 12 from Bryce to Torrey. We then want to take highway 72 from Loa to I 70. We have a 25 ft TT and 1/2 ton truck. Anyone familiar with this road. It's not in the Mountain Passes book.

We have made that trip quite a few times. We will be rolling thru Loa and Fish Lake on July 13th with our 33ft 5th wheel with a 18ft boat behind it. The road is a two lane road but nothing to worry about.

Don't let the 7K and 9K scare you - that entire area is high elevation. We drive frequently to an elevation of 6700' here and it's a gradual climb.

On google maps terrain mode I see that it is about 7000' at both ends, with a summit at 9000', with gradual climbs on both sides.

If it's not in the Mountain West Directory (is that what you said?), then it's not a road to be worried about. That publication only lists those of concern.

As best I can remember the road is just your normal 2 lane back road in Utah -- No Problem -- We've driven it two or three times , and noting bad sicks out. Just enjoy That Beautiful part of Utah.
