Hi all,
Anyone know if Vt Rt 73 is suitable for a large 5th wheel. We're traveling from NH on Rt 4 then to Branden, Vt and don't know whether we should detour a little South and take 100 to 7 or stay on 73. Thanks.

No, no. Route 4 to 7 in Rutland. Taking 100 north will make you take 73 over the mountain.

Right 4 to 7. I'll get this straight sooner or later :S

Leaving 89 and taking 4 in Lebanon/White River Jct would be fine. You still have to climb over a mountain, but as kenfield said, 4 is used by trucks all the time and the trip will be much easier.

Enjoy, travel safe.

Rt 4 is generally the road the truckers use. Warning, on Rt 4, if the speed limit says 30, make sure you go 30. 31 will get you a ticket. They are very strict in those small towns.

Unless I am reading you wrong, you should follow 4 to 7 in Rutland. Take 7 north to Brandon. Not sure where 73 is involved at all. Route 73 runs east/west from Rochester to Brandon and is a pretty steep haul over Brandon Gap. If I had the choice I would avoid it with my 34' gasser.

Thanks for the reply. I mis-sated the route. We were going to come N on 89 to around Royalton and get on 107 heading west. From there it's either get on 100 to 73 or 100 to 4 and it sounds like I should avoid 73. we could get off 89 around Lebanon and just take Rt 4 from there. That sounds like the better option if 4 is a good road.
