Ypsilanti, MI to Port Huron

Hi,

We plan to drive from Ypsilanti, MI to Port Huron on Friday. Can anyone with knowledge of this area recommend the best route to travel? Mapping software shows I94 is the shortest, but with traffic congestion factored in, are we better off taking a longer, but less busy route?

We're traveling in a 40' motorhome and plan to leave Ypsilanti sometime in the morning, but are flexible on time depending on recommendations.

Thanks in advance for your help.

X2 Probably the beat of all.

But if I'm buying the fuel, it is 40+ miles more.
And another 3/4 hour on the road....
To Me, that would matter.

During high volume times use 275 to 696, otherwise just stay on 94.

Even without the perpetual lane closures and such in Detroit, it is still just not worth the PITA factor.
The I-275 to I-696 route is only about 5 miles longer and will be a lot less wearing on your nerves.

I-275 was lane closures north of I-94 but I'd use the I-275 to I-696 to I-94. A lot better road and you miss the downtown Detroit traffic!!!

I-94 has single lane closures along your route. Should be OK after 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. You could take I-94 to I-275 North to I-696 East to I-94 East. But it will run into the same potential bottle neck that I-94 will give you. Any other route will add many miles and time that any slow down will not use.
