Hola
We are looking for a RV space in Zihuatanejo for January thru March. We have contacted El Manglar and they said they are full for that time frame. We have not been able to find anything else yet.
If someone has any information about space available we would really appreciate it
Thanks
Mike

Hopefully it wonโ€™t be a problem if we get there a day or two early.
Looking forward to meeting you

We just had dinner at El Manglar Restaurant, a favorite of ours, and drove through the RV park. There are only three rigs there as of tonight, and at least 10 full hook up spaces available.

I did not inquire as to availability for the winter.

mnmex brings up an interesting fact. In most Mexican RV parks there is a comradery that you rarely see NOB. I think it is because we are in a different country. People will gather around a communal fire (where allowed). They visit surrounding areas in groups. Usually a happy hour. Often a contest to see who had the most problems on a bad road. Or battling traffic in Acapulco. Problems with an RV. No problem. Someone will share his expertise. Staying in a 500 space RV park in Yuma or Mesa does not compare. Almost boring unless you like woodwork or Pickle ball.

We must have just missed you! We moved out and moved to our house here on December 16, 2017. While you were here our RV was parked in front of our house right next door to LOOT.

Talking about Costa Bella sure brings up great memories. Our first stay there was spring of 2002.
We were on our way up from the winter in Oaxaca and Acapulco. Thought we should check it out.
Rodrigo greeted us warmly and over the years we became great friends with Rodrigo, Evelia and their oldest son who we call Rodrigito. Lots of fun family outings and dinners with them over the years. So very sad, Evelia died of Covid in the summer of 2020.

The first season, when we arrived, the only other camper there was Jacques(RIP). Another good friend. He had helped lay out the RV park and went on to develop the park behind Real de las Palmas.

Our first full season was in 2003. There were 12 rigs of all sizes there. We played trilingual bocce ball every night in the center of the park. We watched the bungalows grow from one floor to the present 4 floors. Stayed in them often also when we didnโ€™t drive.

Our last stay with our camper was in 2018. We had the perfect spot right next to the pool and it was a great season. When we pulled out in late April, we were the last to leave. Looked so empty.

It was a great park.

IF you can pull it off, try to be here for the fireworks show on New Year's eve. It is world class, quite spectacular. Part of what we love about it is that it is sent off from usually 5 locations, 3 here on Playa la Ropa, one on La Madera and one on Playa Principal. They set them up by mid day, put a string of yellow caution tape around them, then leave. Great chance to see the stuff close up in the light.

Remember at El Manglar to keep a flashlight handy for night time, the crocs like to walk around. If you have pets, especially small ones, be careful. Supposedly there have not been any incidents, but when we walk our dogs in the morning in the dark we are very aware and do see them coming and going through the surf. Paddled by a 6 footer last week mid morning.

As you come down the hill onto Playa la Ropa, just past the dolphin statue, look to the left. You'll see a row of potted palms in front of a house. Honk and wave!!!! That's us.

It may not be what you want, but if your heart is set on Zihuatanejo for the winter (and we SO get it) you may have to take another approach and be flexible. Instead of trying to find a solid three month chunk of time, just take what you can get. Show up, take what is available. If you have to leave for a while, check at Real de las Palmas. Try Playa Linda, hopefully get another month or whatever, have to leave for a bit and return for more. Acapulco isn't far away, an easy drive. We always enjoyed it too!

I think the only way you are going to get your foot in the door at either RV park here in Zihuatanejo is to be flexible, show up and get established so that if this is your paradise, you can get your 3 months in the future.
