We just returned from 6 days at Black Bear Cove. For anybody that has been there in the past few years, you have witnessed a beautiful campground go downhill from neglect. As of February 2014, this is now a bank owned property and they have a management company running the campground and lodge. The lodge has now been cleaned, and the rooms are available for rent. We did not go inside the lodge rooms, but from the grounds outside, the improvements are obvious. As for the campground, they have water, electric, sewer hookups at all sites. Cable is not available yet but they are working on a new contract for that. Work was going on at the camp store and they hope to have it open soon. The restrooms were much cleaner than in the past few years. This is a beautiful area and the campground is located on the Hiwassee River. It is convenient to rafting on the Hiwassee or Ocoee Rivers.
