Camping Suggestion About 4 Hours From NYC?

We live on Long Island and have had a camper for about 3 years now. We've only camped on Long Island in that time span but have just finished up a week at Lake George RV Park and it was great. We are already planning to start looking for our big trip for next summer and are looking for suggestions.

1) campground should be less than 4 hours from NYC.
2) campsite should have water, electric and sewer sites
3) must allow dogs

The trip will be in July of 2015 with two 28' trailers. It will consist of my parents who are mid to late 60's. My brother and sister in law in early 40's and their two boys aged 7 and 5. It will also be myself age 35.

We've briefly looked at strawberry park and odetah online. Any other suggestions maybe west or south of NYC?

with kids for week from LI, I would head to Hershey, Cape May, Knoebels or Poconos. Even DE/MD has nice campgrounds. Good luck

2 campgrounds that I can think of, both are probably close to your 4hr limit.

Normandy Farms in Foxboro MA and Cherrystone Campground in VA

If it were me I would consider 1st cherrystone, place is just awesome, your kids will have a blast crabbing on the docks. Both campgrounds have every bell & whistle under the sun

X2. PA Railroad Museum, Strasberg RR, Dutch Wonderland (amusement park) and other attractions having to do with the Amish way of life. CG's we've used in the area would be Old Mill Stream (right next to Dutch Wonderland) and the Jellystone in Quarryville. The latter is nicer with lots for the kids but is IMHO pricey. Gettysburg and the surrounding area is also a good choice.

Did you get a picture with Toasty?! We just got back from LGRVP last night; went up for a few days.

We went to Strawberry Park a couple of times years ago when the kids were young. It's a nice park if you're looking to keep the kids busy. Keep in mind though, that you have been spoiled now at LGRVP.

You can't lose by going to Rip Van Winkle Campground in Saugerties, NY. This is our favorite place. We will be there in a couple of weeks and I can't wait.

RVW doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of some campgrounds, but they do have a heated pool and daily activities.

Check out their website and Facebook.
