El Paso Wally docking

If all goes well, we're planning a trip that includes passing through El Paso, TX.
My question is; is anyone on here concerned for their safety if parking at a WalMart in the area? We've stayed many times at Wallys, but am somewhat concerned about this area, given the recent shootings and being so close to the border.
I know this isn't a PC question, but I'd really like to know your thoughts.

Tell that to Oscar Lopez.

There is absolutely endless desert out here. Head west on I-10 even just a few dozen miles and you'd be hard pressed to find a more empty place. That said, I'd stay in a truck stop before I'd crash in a Wally World parking lot in El Paso; there's truck stops everywhere and that's what their parking spots are there for--larger vehicles where people sleep inside. Truckers don't call it camping, as it's just work for them.

Keep going, or stay at a RV park.

If you had to use your "wild & crazy guys" you will regret it and it will create a lot of trouble for yourself.

I live close to El Paso, it is safe just don't start anything. There is a KOA at exit 2 w/b 0 e/b behind Camping World.

For the poster that said the boarder is not an issue, El Paso has bullet holes in city hall, came across the boarder. Tonight's news 13 YOA killed leaving Mexico, near boarder check. The boarder issue is real if you live down this was. Albuquerque 3 homicides so far, the first2 two hours into the new year. That does not include the shot that did not die.

Well, we have a couple "wild & crazy guys" we travel with. You know--Smith & Wesson, and they bring their friend, Rugar. We don't want trouble at all, just traveling through.
Thanks for the tip about Anthony.

There's lots of shootings and criminal activity along the border. Cartel activity is heavy. You're never totally safe sleeping out in public. RV locks/door are fragile and easily overcome. If you rely on someone else for protection you're likely not to survive. Don't rely on someone else.
