First time

Staying in a campground will be this LD weekend. The reason is archery season opening here in Az is this weekend. With all the rain & hunters the forest will be full so my friend talked me into going to a campground. They just developed some dry sites in the tall pines in the back of the property. Just not sure about all the rules But it'll be better than staying home.

We are staying @ the Happy Jack Lodge campground. About 50 miles southeast of Flagstaff. Any suggestions for a first timer in a campground? Not new to camping, I've had a 5th wheel for 15 yrs, just always camped in the forest surrounded by friends not strangers with dufferent attitudes.

No didn't get one, but saw some stunning country and beautiful wildflowers. The rain that started sometime in the night left a muddy bog this morning when we tried to leave. If it wasn't for four wheel drive, I'd probably still be there.

Even though I read your post, it didn't sink in about the holiday weekend.

I know thanks but on the holiday it's double and there are gonna get a lot more rain this week. Last year I ended up driving home. The sites that werent full were under water. Expensive trip for nothing. Been going up there for 15 yrs and was the first time I encountered this. All campgrounds from there to Showlow were full also.

We just got back from a weekend in the forest south of Flagstaff off of Kelly Canyon Road. We found dozens of open campsites. Indeed I was bowhunting for deer, but I ran into very few other hunters. Lot's of open area out there.

With our experience I think you will find that campers are all alike and will enjoy your fellow campers. You may find a grouch or two, but just ignore them and enjoy the experience. You will probably discover some new friends.
