Is the beach in Geneva state park as nice and well maintained as the one at Presque Isle in Erie? Family enjoyed Erie but want to be closer to Cleveland this year...thanks as always Ray

We recently spent 3 days at Geneva-on-the-lake state park. The campground is a typical Ohio State Park Campground. Some nice shaded sites with electric only, very small shower house (only 3 stalls on the mens side) which cried out for cleaning and updating, grass is almost non-exsistant in the shaded sites so if it rains there is lots of mud. The beach was not at all to our liking, rocks in the sand and the "floor" of the lake was a combination of rocky sand and or mud.Lake water quality (cleanliness) may be a issue for you The town of Geneva was a big disappointment for us. If your into fast food and/or alcohol it may be for you. Very limited shopping . The whole place seems to be "caught in the '40's & '50's. We did not visit the State Park Lodge but passed by several times and it did look impressive from the street. The entire town can be done in just a few hours. The municipal golf course was a bargain if you golf but other than that it is not a place we will visit again. The nearby "RV Resort" is overpriced & over crowded. We have not visited Presque Isle, Pa....We have visited Presque Isle, Maine tho...that's another story.....

The beach wasn't nice at all when we were there. Neat town with stuff to do but swimming isn't it. Maybe check on east harbor? I've never camped there but friends have and liked it.

I don't remember a beach at this park. This is a fairly steep access to the water. There is a HUGE marina and a nice lodge. The real attraction is the ability to ride your bicycles from the campground into the the town.

The area has the best wineries in Ohio. You have to travel about ten miles to start the tour, but worth it. Also many covered bridges in the area.

Beach?? Not so much. There is a "beach" at the town park on the far edge of town. Pretty rugged.

Just MY opinion.
