Glendo Reservoir or Boondock?

We are traveling north on I25 and will be in the vicinity of Glendo Reservoir about time to stop for the night and sleep in our North Star pop-up camper. Two questions: If we decide to park it for the night on Glendo Reservoir, which of the campgrounds would work and be the closest to the entrance? (The maps don't show campsites). Second, is there any other place that would be a relatively quiet place to park for the night other than Glendo which is $17.00? We don't need hook-ups and frequently boondock. Since we will be driving though on Thursday, if we stop at Glendo, do we need a reservation?

We've stayed a few nights at Glendo Lakeside RV Park, just North of the town, and east towards the lake. The folks there were very nice. We'd stay again (and will). Take a drive around the lake, if time permits. It's a beautiful area of Wyoming.

Thanks for both responses! I didn't even know about researching "Free Campgrounds".

Can't give you any information about Glendo, but if you can make it another 25 miles, you can stay for free at Riverside city park in the town of Douglas:

I've stayed there twice. Nice quiet place at the river which runs through town.

Thank you so much! That is really helpful!
