Does anyone know if the campground at Harrah's Grand in Tunica MS closed along with the Casino? or is it still open.

I hadn't considered casinos. I'm in the St. Louis area too and will be heading somewhere warmer come years end. I was thinking of heading south, down 55, to 10 and meandering east to FL. It will be my first time and I appreciate all the info I'm finding here.

Garmp1,
I couldn't tell you. A friend of mine and I drove down and parked the MH in the parking lot of the Casino Magic Hotel. We had just finished driving the length of Mississippi playing golf for a week along the Robert Trent Jones golf trail. The rooms, like everything else, were first class, cheap and included breakfast and lunch buffets every day.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

For another 250 miles, you can go to Biloxi. The 30 mile stretch from Biloxi to Bay St. Louis has 6 CGs and 11 Casinos within 3 miles of US90 and you're right on the gulf.
BTW, the casinos are all built on barges and the hotels they're attached to are on land. That's how they got around the gaming laws in Mississippi. Technically, they aren't IN Mississippi - they're off shore. And the gaming income makes everything else cheap. All you can eat buffets that include lobster and steak. One of the showrooms had Michael Flatley's "Lord of the Dance". Cheap admission and free drinks. Matter of fact, drinks are free in the Casinos as well. They like drunk gamblers.

What's the camping like down there? We have a B, so size, turns, etc are not an issue, all we need is elect, a table, and a couple of trees along with a nice clean shower house. We're thinking of driving from St. Louis to the Biloxi area and working our way over to at least Baton Rouge, and/or a bit further before heading north thru Arkansas and home. We really prefer COE & State Parks over private. Open for suggestions.
