Hello Everyone,

My wife and I are planning on staying at Letchworth State Park in NY this June. We have a 24' C Class MH and we don't pull a toad. We do however, take our bikes and love to bike and hike everywhere. So any feedback would be appreciated wether it's positive or negative.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Stayed here in 2010 site 821. That site and ones on either side where good choices. No neighbors behind you. Gets real dark here and you can't see the many critters. Sitting at campfire occasionally point flash lite. Hey it is a raccoon, wait overthere is a skunk, what is that over there a possum. Kinda like a commercial. Bring good hiking shoes because there are miles of trails. Our site wouldn't run the ac without tripping the breaker every couple hours even with refrigerator on propane. Staying in June that will not be a problem for you. I am glad we went but probably a one and done for me.

Letchworth is a very nice park. You'll need a day or two just to explore the park and see the beautiful gorge. I do hope you will also find time to visit the Finger Lakes area! Sampson State Park is a good spot for a base camp, and all sites have electric. There are many wineries to visit on Seneca Lake, as well as nearby lakes. Watkins Glen is also a nice park, great for a hike up the gorge. They only have one loop with electric there. Hammondsport and Naples are nice little towns with good restaurants, artist galleries and farmers markets. Lots to do in the area.

As long as you are comfortable with a 11 mile ride between the campground & the falls, five miles to get to an IGA grocery store in Perry, you should be fine. There is lots of hiking in the park, but not a lot else in the area. Most of the campground sites are electric only, although there are some 50 amp sites.

Letchworth is a really nice park...quite large. So, you will have plenty of miles to ride bikes or hike. And by being there in June, most NY schools are still in session unil the last week of June, so it shouldn't be crowded except on the weekends.

It's been a couple of years since we've been there, but they were upgrading a lot of their sites which would give you great hookups for a class C. Not sure if they have any sites with sewer hook up, but the bathouses in the NY state parks are usually fairly decent. Water access is usally near the campsites so it isn't too difficult to keep your water tank filled. I'm not sure if they have any campsites with water.

The Genesee River gorge is really nice, and there are a couple of waterfalls. If you have a few bucks to spend, the hot air balloon rides that launch from the park are incredible. My wife & I went up back in 2005 as I received tickets as a retirement gift. The experience was incredible.

If you like amusement parks, Darien Lake Park is not far away.

Hope you have a great trip!

Letchworth State Park is a very large park with several seperate areas of interest. The camping area is pretty much away from everything else. The terrain is hilly and the roads narrow so it is not a good park to bike in. The main features of the park include a gorge with 3 waterfalls and some nice hiking trails. The camping area is just okay in my opinion, nothing special.

Some alternatives are Stony Brook State Park near Dansville or head futher south to the Watkins Glen area. I see you were also asking about Allegany State Park so an alternative would work for you.
