Let's have a little fun. What do you consider to be "must have" items when you go boondocking?

I'll start:

1. Two AGM 6v or Group 27 12v batteries
2. Solar power (100 watts)
3. Propane (2x5 gal tanks)
4. Seven gallon portable water tank
5. First Aid Kit
6. Water Purification Kit
7. Saw Zaw (for cutting firewood)
8. Firestarter
9. Camera
10. Altimeter App
11. Dump Station Location App
12. GPS/Maps
13. GPS locator

Yes, North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I can't take credit for cutting that tree as there were already several individuals with larger chainsaws than I had (thankfully) working on it when we arrived. You have to be very careful with the first cut, especially with a tree that size, because once the tension is released, you don't know where the two sections are going to go.

I have on several occasions had to cut tree falls (smaller trees than photo) to clear a trail.

Excellent feedback and great suggestions, everyone. I'll compile a list and post them in my blog.

My 'Must have' for remote Boondocking... an alternative way to get back out, in case the RV has any problems. (Dirt Bike, ATV, Jeep, camping buddies etc)

Brent ... excellent point! I forgot that on my long list I posted above.

We have been talking about an aluminum front rack carrying a small scooter. (We want it on the front, as the front is underloaded just a bit and don't want to worsen the situation by hanging the scooter off the back of our Class C.)

I also noticed that one poster mentioned bringing along an electric chain saw - another excellent item to bring along when boondocking.

When we boondock, I like to enjoy a campfire, using the electric chainsaw (stealthy) to cut firewood. And do some good old fashion wood fire cooking. saving LP fuel to stay warm at night in the mountains.

Ok, I'll bite. What's the chainsaw for?:h

Sometimes it is for getting to your campsite...other times it is (more importantly) needed for getting back out!

Tree falls...it can happen to you!

Prof, that's an instructive quote from the Bible. Isn't that where John smashes the liquor store window?

Green, I guess if you run out of Zin right away, you just have to throw rocks in disgust. Isn't that what it says in John 8:7? (For those who do not have their Bibles at hand while perusing this forum, see below . . . . )

What's a HenWay?
Well the largest we had before processing her was about 7 lbs.
The smallest was about 2 1/2 lbs.
The largest rooster that ran the flock was about 9 lbs.

Oh, and I agree with the extra container of water as the most important "survival item". Let me see if I can still recall the 10 essentials:

Food
Water
Warm clothing
signal mirror (cell phone)
matches/firestarter (Bic lighter)
Okay, I got five of them.

Regarding Prof's two bottles of Zin per week of boondocking, what happens when that runs out? We supposed to survive the next six days on food and water?
