Pahrump, NV camping with RPI

We have an opportunity to stay at one or both of the RPI campgrounds in Pahrump NV. We would like to explore Death Valley, Tecopa hot springs, Las Vegas, and Hoover dam. It appears Pahrump is about half way between DV and LV, so a good take off spot--especially with full-hookups with RPI rates! If you've stayed at Preferred RV or Wine Ridge RV parks, which is better--in your opinion.

I'm curious of the roads to each--especially the cut-off road to death valley. It appears to be a gravel road, but much shorter. We will drive our toad.

Any experiences here, plus suggestions would be appreciated. Mark

Thanks. Have you been on the cut-off road into Death Valley? It looks pretty primitive on the map
