Park Recommendations? (Travel from S. GA to N. Texas)

Good morning,
Like the title says, I need some park recommendations. We are moving from Lake Park, GA to Wichita Falls, TX. I'll be pulling our travel trailer, and my wife will be following with a couple of friends/helpers in our car. We will depart late on Friday, 7/31, and want to arrive no later than Monday morning, 8/3. I hope to travel about 200 miles on Friday, which would put us in the vicinity of DeFuniak Springs, FL. On Saturday, I hope to travel about 400 miles, which would put us between Vicksburg, MS and Monroe, LA. On Sunday, I also hope to travel about 400 miles, which would put us into TX. I plan to avoid the metroplex by veering north at Tyler and I also expect to stop before we get to Wichita Falls.

Having said all that, I need some park recommendations. The areas in which the parks are located also need to have some decent hotels because it wouldn't be ideal to put my wife's friends/helpers in the camper with me and the dogs. I've tried the "new" RVParkReviews.com website, but it is awful. Therefore, I'd like to harness the power of RV.net. What have you got?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

I have 2 suggestions. Riverbend RV park in Vicksburg. The park is on hwy 61 5 miles south of I20. Easy in and out. good for an overnight with plenty of room.
You can go as for as West Monroe, La and there is a park called Pavilion RV park. It is at the 112 mile marker also called Wells Road.
Riverbend has more room for more vehicles. Just stayed there last week on our way from Gulf Shores, Al on the way home to Rockwall, Texas.

I agree that there is nothing between Vicksburg and West Monroe. Vicksburg has several parks including the Ameristar which provides free breakfast. That would be 350 miles from DeFuniak Springs. To split the difference on to Wichita Falls, a good stop woud be at Tyler State Park just a mile or two north of I-20. That would be about 265 miles from Vicksburg.

A few miles down the freeway from Tyler State Park, I would take US 69 up to Bells, Texas and join US 82 west there. You are wise to take the northern route around DFW. It would be about 250 miles on to Wichita Falls from Tyler State Park.

I've stayed at Sunset King RV Resort in Defuniak Springs and it was nice, although it's probably 6 miles or so off of I-10 (where there are lots of hotels). Try this link: Sunset King RV Resort.

A while back, I was also looking for good places west of Vicksburg and pretty much couldn't find anything, so I decided just to stop at the Ameristar park in Vicksburg. Ameristar Vicksburg. It doesn't appear to be all that great, but it looked OK for an overnight stop.

West of that... sorry, no suggestions.

Good luck,

You'll get more replies posting this in the RV Parks section. Try RV Parky or Allstays and see if you get better info there. Also stay off of 380 in Texas, traffic is heavy with lots of stop lights. US 82 should be a better choice.
