So where did you boondock today?

This is a new thread to document where you boondocked recently in your RV. It doesn't have to be today, it can be last week or last month. Please post a pic or two. This should be a great thread. I'm looking forward to seeing your posts in the future. Thanks.

Nina, you nailed it -- the Goosenecks area is, to me, the essence of boondocking -- endless sky, howling wind, emptiness, silence. This is what I see in my mind's eye as I sit in my urban office, listening to the ceaseless background drone of traffic and the thump of helicopters:

That shot of our trailer was taken way out on one of the "peninsulas" in the Goosenecks area, less than a mile from the State Park itself, on a cold breezy October afternoon.

NICE!!! Excellent shot of the area. Really shows how remote and gorgeous it is!

Thanks for the links...I have been to Deadhorse lots. One of my fantasies is to drag my Suzuki back down and go into Canyon Lands. My C is just too wide/tall for a lot of that area.

The mention of Combs Wash sent me looking....and now I have a sore head from slapping myself that many times. Why I hadn't ever seen that is beyond me, but now, that must be set to rights.

And just because it's Sunday morning...I will presume you saw the new addition?

Phil, that's how you know you are doing a LOT of boondocking -- when you can't even remember where you stayed! Well done, and congratulations! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Gary,

Here's a link to Horsethief CG in Utah:

http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/moab/recreation/campgrounds/highway_313/horsethief.html

My DW thinks we may have stayed in it last October during our Utah tour. We were right in that area during the trip, but I can't recall if we specifically stayed in that CG or not. We stayed in a mix of designated campgrounds and just plain out in the middle of nowhere campgrounds boondocking in the desert. Some great looking places we had to pass up because I didn't want to try them in our Class C that doesn't have four wheel drive.

BTW, this park is a little jewel also - just across the line leaving Utah going into Nevada off Highway 50. It's Lower Lehman Creek CG within the Great Basin NP:

Thought I'd add our last 2 boondocking spots:

Gooseneck State Park, UT -> It's a state park, but it's free boondocking

This is an up-close shot of our spot

And a panorama shot from further down...Can you see the rig?

Comb Wash, UT -> On BLM land on the Trail of the Ancients. TONS of cliff dwellings in this area. Got some totally crazy weather while we were here...wind, thunder, rain, snow, sandstorm!!

And the view out our windshield

For anyone that wants to know...arrived in Edmonton Sunday afternoon..and the overnight temp at the airport? -20C. I am in the house! RV has two heaters in it and some windshield anti-freeze in the traps and tanks..(it's all I had)

I'll hang out till Saturday, then head west on 16 and maybe with a rescue dog with me.

And today, Saturday...I am in the Rocky Mountains..in Golden. So..although the river is within sight, the view isn't of water...it's mountains and a lovely building!

On my way to Edmonton.

Lovely spots...all of them! There's something magical about boondocking next to water. We've got to get our butts up North one of these years.

Well, I can't tell you exactly where we last boondocked, but it was last summer in the Eastern Sierra between Lee Vining and Bridgeport.

Oh I SOOO love the Eastern Sierra Nevada's. Looks like you got a sweet spot out there!
