Planning on trip to Sturgis this year with MH. Have been before but not to the campgrounds, rode bikes and stayed in motel last time. Any suggestions on the best CG to stay in? We are looking at Glencoe for the full hook-ups and we don't mind the noise, any pro's, con's, better ones? All suggestions welcome.

Thanks

I think somebody is yanking your chain.:) Anybody wearing gang colors draws a lot of full time attention from the hundreds of law enforcement folks working at any given moment. They also are not allowed in many establishments, and generally treated like they have a communicable disease, during bike week. Swinging a chain, using a knife or other general stupidity often results in a time out, and a watching your friends leave for home as you await a preliminary trial. Sturgis is no different than reality TV. Lots of drama that is highly controlled and staged for the cameras. Any yes, I've been there many times.

This will be our 1st year there and we are staying at Glencoe with a friend that goes every year. Dry camp and he says they have excellent bath houses, so we will find out.

I have stayed in Spearfish (15 min west of Sturgis) in the past at Elk Horn Ridge. Big/long pull thrus, swimming pool all the amenities and easy on/off the interstate.

Either them or the Chip for the concerts and craziness. There is a newer campground operated by the Broken Spoke, that I have heard good things about. If you are not into the concerts there is also one in Sturgis. A little know Gem is the Spearfish City Campground, will not handle a big hauler and a drive from Sturgis. Have fun....

I havent been either but have spent some time in checking Campgrounds out. I dont know how to link it but check out Sturgis.Com, its a Forum dedicated to everything "Bike Week" has to offer. The Buffalo Chip gets plenty of write up there although in all my searching, I seem to end up looking at Glencoe more than anything else. Im going to make it there one of these years too(bucket list item)....have a Great Time!

Never been there but it's a high possibility in 2013. Just got a new set of wheels (see sig block) this year after not riding in 35 years. It was the wife's idea to go. I looked on line and am considering the Buffalo Chip CG as there is a lot of headliner entertainment right at the CG including Toby Keith.

Lots to choose from. Stayed @ Hog Heaven Campground 2yrs ago for rally. Had 36ft toyhauler full hook=ups. Food availble, showers, laundry, bar & entertainment and close to town. (they also had a bus to take you if you did not choose to ride bike) I would stay there again when given the chance,
