What is the best time to visit New Mexico?

Twice we have spent Oct and Nov in New Mexico and enjoyed beautiful weather. As you get into Dec it starts to get a little chilly. Start up north and work your way south.

I vote for Semptember and for Santa Fe and Taos.

The fact is, we've been there almost anytime except real Winter and have found the weather delightful.

Summer in the high country works for us. Too hot down south.

If you are interested in chili, go late Aug early Sep to Hatch, NM, just north of Las Cruces.

But for me it is late April early May and October/ November because that is when I am there

You can go to Weather.com and get the averages for any city in the US to help you determine the best weather window for your trip. We were in St. George UT one Labor Day and it was 100 degrees F!

I liked early August for the north, high elevation. Gorgeous sunshine, with a daily hour of thunderstorm for variety.

We were just there last week and the weather was pleasant.

I've been there in the spring and I'd say the spring or fall to avoid the winter cold and the summer heat. There are differences between the north and south of the state due to elevation changes. I also like spring and fall to cut down on some of the congestion when the kids are still in school......
