Willipa Bay, WA Camping?

We have reservations for Pacific Beach SP in WA for next week. We would love to find a spot around Willapa Bay for a night or two before we arrive there. It should be interesting to find a small park, such as the county park at Bay Center. I think that a Sunday arrival would have vacancies? Any thoughts about what else to consider?

Thanks for the help. We stayed at the Raymond RV Park on the Willapa River. It's a simple RV Park with 12 sites with S/W/E, and very friendly regular guests that helped us know what sites were available or would be soon. We waited for about 45 minutes for a nice pull-thru to be available while we prepared lunch.

They are building several large sailing catamarans on the property, one for more than 20 years, and the very knowledgeable owner was great to share his boat-builiding stories with me. We would stay here again.

Here at Pacific Beach SP, which is magnificent, we are next to someone that stayed at the Raymond Golf Course the night before and was disappointed with the RV Park.

This page might help also. http://www.hikercentral.com/campgrounds/147036.html has listing of private places. Which some of which are not to spiffy looking. We had no problem in class C anywhere over there. Other than they are proud of their fuel prices.

At Pacific Beach SP... if you want a little drive to the beach or even driving on the beach, the best access road we've found to the beach is just north of the military Pacific Beach campground (where we usually stay). Fewer people.

Google maps shows it as...

path1, thanks

Thanks for the info, I'll do a bit of exploring.

I raise my own oysters and mussels on my beach and like to stop at shellfish growers/processors to chat about things, and try their product.

From my collection of "Things to do and stay by county's in WA"

Be sure to check out first! When I first started saving this type of data I should of dated everything but wasn't thinking that for enough in advance back in 1998. But things don't change that often, so maybe some are good.

I just copied and pasted from my file. The bold font is to catch your eye.

---Pacific County Courthouse, dubbed 'The Gilded Palace of Extravagance' was built in 1909. It is on the National Register and, with its art glass done, is a beautiful building to view.
Pacific County Museum has an extensive exhibit on the area's natural, native, transportation, maritime, and cultural history. 11-4, weekdays

---Wildlife-Heritage Sculpture Corridor in Raymond, is a unique collection of 200 silhouette sculptures representing the culture of the area from the wildlife to native and logging history.

---Willapa Seaport Museum displays numerous artifacts from the regions nautical past. Kids will especially enjoy the life-size fishing boat, as well as a complete set of nets, lines, hooks, poles, and other tools of the fishermanโ€™s trade. Also a nice collection of period and modern art. Raymond

---Carriage Museum features a collection of 20 horse drawn carriages, buggies and sleighs. Raymond, next to the Seaport Museum

And worth seeing if you never seen it before, about 2 1/2 hours. Owned by the hardware store guy couple buildings over

---Port of Willapa Harbor offers several local marinas, an historic "high dock" in Raymond, and many light manufacturing and seafood distributors.

---Willapa Bay Trail is one of many Washington Water Trails Access points.

---Willapa Bay from various points to enjoy an array of water activities

---Willapa Hills Trail Rail-to-trail project, the Raymond to South Bend portion follows the beautiful Willapa River.

---Bruceport County Park with campsites and RV hook-ups, picnic areas, and trail to the beach. On the site of an early Indian village, and later Bruceport, an early oyster harvesting port.

----Bush Pioneer County Park in Bay Center, sits on 40 acres and offers camping, picnicking, play ground and beach access. Also see

----Leadbetter State Park, is part park, part wildlife refuge. Situated on the tip of the Long Beach Peninsula it is home to more than 100 species of birds.

Then I heard in 2013, they don't mind if you overnight at Casino but you must check in first and wouldn't hurt to have a meal. So who knows?

If during your travels, if any of the above is wrong or need updating, would you send me a PM so I can update and make available to others
