Yellowstone in October

We're planning on taking our travel trailer (Indian River 22MKSE) to Yellowstone/Grand tetons and arriving in early October. There is very little that is reservable in the park for our dates, and we'd have to piece it together and move from site to site over the 3 nights we plan to spend there, as most of it is closed. I know there are also a ton of first come, first serve sites available, though even this, only some is available in October. Would this be doable in October? Or would it still be crowded enough that it would be difficult to find a spot? We don't need any hookups, as long as they allow generator use to charge up the batteries during the day.

I found a lot of reservable spots at RV parks, which we'll book if need be. However, we prefer the more rustic 'in-nature' feel of state/national park campgrounds as opposed to RV park manicured grass and gravel.

Sitting in Bakers Hole as I type this. They are usually out of here at the end of September. Just looked at the website and it says usually 9-30. enblethen, are you thinking about Rainbow Point CG?

Keep in mind that the park's facilities begin to close in October.

Our family stayed at the lodge once and we were there for their closing night. The staff were pretty....distracted. Portions were generous, but service was spotty. The vibe was amazing though and we had a great time. This was probably 20 years ago and our kids still remember it.

North of West Yellowstone is Baker's hole. A forest service campground with electric.
Opposite side is another forest service that has a couple loops with electric. Can't remember name. Galatin National forest

Grizzly is one of the most beautifully landscaped RV parks we have ever stayed in and it is right next to the Grizzly and Wolf sanctuary where you can get closer to wolves than you ever wanted to.

Much of the park will be shutting down in Late Sep into Oct. Website says parks inside will close mid Sep.
Weather could be a big issue.
