Yellowstone Roads Closed

Internal roads at Yellowstone were closed to visitor traffic last Monday.

The only exception is from North Entrance (Gardiner, MT) through Tower to Northeast Gate (Cody, WY). Beartooth, however, is closed so there isn't much to do after you get to NE Gate.

Not enough snow yet for Snowmobiles or snow coaches.

Don't mean to be picky, but it's actually Cooke City, MT a few miles beyond the Northeast gate that is the end of plowed road in the winter.

Correct. Only thing you can do is turn around and return the same way you came. Cooke City/Silvergate is just about as isolated as you can be in the US, especially in the winter. It is one of the absolutely best areas in the world for snowmobiling. Unfortunately, a couple of people a year die in avalanches while snowmobiling on the area's mountain slopes.
