5X5 Fence Post Mod - Length Question

I have all the stuff to install the 5X5 fence post sewer hose mod - except my TT. I want to pre-assemble as much as possible before going to the storage lot next Friday for the install. I have a "full width" camper, so is it safe to say will use the entire eight feet of the fence post? I know I have to cut the gutter shorter.

I drilled two holes in the lower flange of the 5er frame. I took a piece of angle iron and used that for a support under the fence post. I ran two bolts up thru the angle iron into the lower flange of the 5er frame and bolted them to the I beam. I had to put some 1-1/2" spacers between the fence post and frame because of the propane line running under the frame.

How is it attached to the underbelly of the camper?

Sifter, I used a clear coat for a primer and the just some Rustoleum paint that's for outdoor plastic patio furniture. I 1st took the sheen off with a scratch pad then sprayed the clear on. It acts as a primer. The clear bonds better than the paint. Follow that with your color of choice. I used to race remote control cars when younger and I would buy different bodies for the cars. They were clear and needed painting. We always painted the clear bodies on the inside with clear to help adhesion. So I just applied the same theory to my fence post.

I used the full 8' on mine, as I mounted on the top of the rear bumper.

I never cut any off mine as well, flush with the outside of the trailer.

That is correct. There are two types. One is U shape and the other a K shape. Make sure you use the U shape and that it is the correct size to fit inside the tube. If I remember correctly, there were two sizes available at Lowes where I purchased it.

Those bungies are there to keep the hose from twisting off the support. I only use the support when staying in one place for some time. The picture was taken during our winter stay in Florida. That gutter tray is not rigid enough to hold the hose without twisting and needs some support under it. It is mainly to make getting the hose in and out of the storage tube easier.

For the people who have this, Do you have the hose strapped in like BarneyS and leave it that way for dumping or is this mainly used for full hookups? Thanks

Just installed one on our new rig - the same one I've had on the past three. No cutting. The new rig is 100" wide and the others were 96" - even on the narrow rigs it never extended out bast the tires.

I cut mine to match the trailer bumper and found that it was short for two 15' Rhino hoses. It will carry the fittings, a 15', and a 10' of Rhino.

Love mine, so convenient mounted next to the drain connection. 🙂
