Faucets Upgrade

There was water leaking from the base of the bathroom sink faucet so I went to Lowe's yesterday and bought Peerless for that one and American Standard for the kitchen while I was at it. A great improvement, not only in looks and function, but the stock ones must have been restricting flow, because there is considerably more pressure at both sinks now.

It's going to be harder finding a quality replacement for the shower. It mounts waist high with the wand hose screwed into the bottom. Any suggestions?

We replaced both our kitchen and vanity faucets with real ones last year. We replaced our showerhead with an Oxygenics one. Love it. IMHO, not over-rated. Easy install for DH, which he appreciated.

I changed our bathroom vanity faucet not long after we purchased our unit. The home hardware is so much better quality and yes flow is better also.

My campground neighbor just showed me his Phoenix faucet mentioned by Chris Bryantm and it looks great, emphasis on looks. I'm going online to see what it costs and will post what I learn.

Later. Okay, I went to the Phoenix website and do not see the unit the neighbor showed me. His has a cylindrical shape with a temp control on one end and valve lever on the other. It has the water outlet in the bottom middle. His came with an L shaped metal piece that can accept a shower head. I just would want to omit that piece and simply attach a hose and wand. Phoenix is closed for the day. I'll call tomorrow.

Look on P.12-13 of this Phoenix website. I think you will find what you are looking for.
Edit: On closer reading of your post, it may not be what you are looking for.

Chris, thanks for posting this. I think this is the one I found before and plan to order the shower only fixture.

Phoenix makes a brass shower and tub faucet that is pretty good quality, as well as brass shower only faucets. These use brass stems with replaceable washers and o-rings. Not fancy, but will last forever.
All of our Airstreams have used single handle Moen shower faucets with an off the shelf outlet for the shower hose- a good plumbing store would probably have something similar.

Don't throw out those original faucets ! The inner workings may come in handy if and when that Shower starts to give You trouble.

On our shower I was able to remove the hose and showerhead and replaced it with an off the shelf unit with on/off button from Lowes. Great addition because the new hose is a foot longer.

cekkk, we are in the same boat. We replaced the bathroom and kitchen facets with Moen which was a big improvement over the cheap plastic stuff and now want to get a better shower fixture. I had seen one at some point that was metal but cannot find the link to it again. Maybe someone will give us a good suggestion that have done this same thing.

Nomad297, I was afraid of that. Well, it's probably going to stay where it is until it fails.

You're pretty much stuck with what you got here. There's not a "real" faucet that can substitute that without re-plumbing for a regular shower valve and a head in the wall.
