My version of the stabilizer struts

Been wanting to DIY struts for the front legs on our new fiver.

The coach wiggles and shakes all over the place!
Sooo...here's my attempt at making the struts versus buying.

This is a work in progress:

So far I have this manufactured...

I was worried about crushing the inner pipe with just a bolt tightened into the conduit.
Cutting a 3\4 pipe nipple then splitting it and screwing the cut nipple into the coupling seems to have solved this.

Couple of details:

I'll probably have to weld 3\8" nuts on the pipe coupling.
That'll gimme a chance to whip up some t-handles instead of plain old bolts.

Still working out a few things.

More to come soon (hopefully)

Howdy folks!
A small update after a few changes.
Still might need to beef up the mount points.
These struts have made a noticeable difference with the shake.

These struts can be tightened pretty darn tight...no slipping at all.

Not super happy with my hinge idea.
Hinges are the bearing type, they have no slop.
Nothing moves or shows any flex.

I may fashion some heftier brackets on the next set of struts for the other direction.

Leaving for 5 days so next weekend I'll get back to it.
I guess we'll see if the struts survive the trip.

I do need some practice with that welding machine!
LOL

Pretty cool! Keep up the work and post more pics. I gave up after a while trying to figure out how to make my own and bought WinfieldRV stabilizers. Very simple and very effective. I would like to see how you finish the mod.
